With the IAAF World Cross Country championships to be held on Australian soil in 19 months from now, the National Cross-Country Championships in Wollongong will be a good opportunity to watch senior and junior athletes that are tracking towards wearing the green and gold in Bathurst in March 2021.

The day is full of races starting with the 11 years Boys at 9:00am and going through until 4:00pm showing the conclusion of the Under 20 Girls.

The whole day (every event) will be broadcast live on Athletics Australia’s Facebook and Youtube channels, with the stream running from 9:00am – 4:00pm.

The courses for the events are:

  • 1 x 3km loop: 11 years boys / girls (SSA)
  • 1 x 2km loop: 10-12 years multiclass boys and girls (SSA)
  • 1 x 3km loop: 12 and 13 years (U14) boys and girls
  • 1 x 3km loop: 13-19 years Multiclass Girls and Para Open Women (SSA & AA)
  • 2 x 2km loop: U18 boys and girls
  • 1 x 2km + 2 x 4km: Open Men and Women
  • 2 x 2km: U16 boys and girls
  • 1 x 2km + 2 x 3km: U20 boys
  • 2 x 3km: U20 girls

On course commentator Tim Crosbie and two-time Olympian Dave McNeill gave a great preview of the Open race, which can be seen here:

The event will show the world the depth of running in Australia and act as a strong lead in for the IAAF 2021 Bathurst Cross Country, who will be unveiling its logo on Friday 23 August.

Athletics Australia’s social media channels, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter are the best places to keep track of the results of the day.
