Work Type: Part-time

Salary: Nil – honorary

Closing date: 8 July 2019

Current Opportunity:

Athletics Australia has a skills-based Board. With Board retirements and an update to its Strategic Plan further specific skills that would bring value to the organisation as it enters the next phase of its growth and development have been identified.

Specifically, the Board is looking to recruit Directors with expertise in:

· Product commercialisation, sponsorship acquisition, fundraising, licensing, events;

· Marketing and branding;

· Business strategy;

· Technology, digital and social media;

· Legal;

· Audit and risk.

Notwithstanding the desire to attract candidates with these skills, the Board reserves the right make appointments from outside these skill areas.

Role of Director

As a Director at Athletics Australia, you will play a critical role alongside other Non-Executive Directors and the Executive Team, in the strategic leadership of the sport.

The Board meets approximately eight times annually, usually in Melbourne. In addition to Board Meetings, it is expected that the new Directors will make a contribution to one or more subcommittees of the Board.

Direct experience in athletics is not essential, although a passion for the sport would be expected. It is likely that the initial term of the appointment would be three years, with a maximum of nine years (three terms) possible under AA’s constitution.

The role is honorary, although economy class travel and accommodation is covered where required.

Athletics Australia’s vision: One sport with well supported, seamlessly connected competitions, programs and events delivering athletic activities to all Australians.
