Australian All Schools Athletics 3000m Championships to be scheduled in December

Home | news | Australian All Schools Athletics 3000m Championships to be scheduled in December

In light of feedback from the last edition of the Australian All Schools Championships, Athletics Australia and Athletics Victoria have entered an agreement to split the middle-distance program, ensuring the wellbeing of athletes without overloading their competition schedule.

The 3000m events for all age groups will now be held as part of the Zatopek:10 meet in Melbourne on Saturday, December 14 , relieving the pressure on distance athletes’ programs at the meet, and also offering the student-athletes a unique opportunity to compete alongside the nation’s best at the iconic meet.  Athletes will be able to live and breath the natural pathway of Under Age 3000m events to the Under 20 National Championships over the same distance, and watch the Open 10,000m events on the same evening, providing a special affinity for younger athletes to connect with their elite counterparts.

Details of Zatopek:10 are available here, while an updated Australian All Schools Athletics Championships timetable can be viewe here. Team nomination and selection policies are made available through State and Territory Member Associations.

Athletics Australia appreciates your ongoing support and we look forward to seeing these athletes excel at both meets.
