The Board of Athletics Australia (AA) is pleased to announce its new panel of selectors, who have been appointed until the end of 2024.

World Athletics International Technical Official Peter Hamilton will chair the committee, taking over from previous Chair Dion Russell, while the rest of the panel will comprise of Athletics International President and AA Life Member Marian O’Shaughnessy, three-time Olympian Chris Erickson, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Caitlin Pincott (nee Willis), three-time Olympian Nicole Boegman-Stewart, as well as two-time Olympian Shaun Creighton.

The role of the national selectors is to determine the composition of Australian representative teams, the nomination of athletes for multi-sport championships, athletes within AA’s NASS structure and any other relevant squads or teams.

“Our selectors play a crucial role within our sport, with each having a huge responsibility in curating each of our representative teams and squads to ensure we can be as competitive as possible on the world stage,” said Athletics Australia President Jan Swinhoe.

“We had a large number of individuals apply for the positions and we have carefully selected applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds. I’d like to congratulate each of our selectors on their appointment and thank them for their enthusiasm in shaping the future of our sport.”
