Congratulations to our incredible Australian athletes at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Florida!
World Championships are a rollercoaster of triumphs and challenges for Aussie Athletes! With many ups, downs, and everything in between.
A small team of 52 athletes made the trip to Gainesville, Florida. Of that group, 49 participated in the championships.
Australia has had some incredible moments to celebrate.
Australia finished fifth in the medal count at the recent World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Florida (19 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze).
Australians shattered records—again and again—with a remarkable display of talent and determination. We are proud to announce that new WORLD RECORDS were set by Australian athletes in the women’s 55 age group – Janelle Delaney in the 400m and the team of Richelle Ingram, Julie Brims, Lenore Lambert, and Janelle Delaney in the 4 x 200m relays.
Australian athletes also broke 39 Australian and State Masters Athletics Indoor records at these championships.
There were many more incredible feats from athletes across Australia across all the disciplines in athletics and age groups. From the youngest competitors to our seasoned veterans, every Australian athlete has shown dedication, perseverance, grit, and spirit as they gave their all. They are an inspiration.
