Three-time Paralympic medallist Brad Scott (WA) has announced his professional retirement via social media today.

Scott walks away from the sport with two silver Paralympic medals in the 800m T37 (Beijing 2008) and the 1500m T37 (London 2012) as well as a bronze in the 800m T37 in London.

During his decade-long career in the sport, Scott also claimed four IPC World Championship medals including three silvers and one bronze.

Born with celebral palsy, Scott was nicknamed 'Red' because of the colour of his hair and created his own clothing brand to help raise funds for coaching and travel costs.

A much-loved member of the Australian para-athletics community, Scott plans to move back to his native Western Australia to pursue a degree in teaching.

At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, Scott finished 5th in the final of the 1500m. After the race, he spoke passionately about the importance of kids getting involved in Paralympic sport, and lists this as his proudest moment of the Games.
