After two years of no Australian Masters National Championships (cancelled by COVID), the 2022 Australian Masters Association Track and Field Championships will finally be going ahead, in Brisbane from April 1 to 4.

Hosted by Queensland Masters Athletics, the main venue will be the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre (QSAC) in Nathan, Brisbane. This venue has two synthetic running tracks and associated field events facilities, providing the opportunity for warmups and competition to take place. The Cross Country events will take place at Minnippi Parklands, Tingalpa, approximately 15km from QSAC, and the Road Walk events will be conducted at Riverside Drive in the inner Southern Brisbane suburb of West End.

Australian Masters Athletics is the national organisation for track and field competition for male and female athletes, aged thirty (30) years and over, living in Australia, with competition conducted over 5 year age groups. Our member associations are the 8 States and Territories around the country, and athletes join through these member associations. We are a member of the Oceania Masters Association, and our governing body is World Masters Athletics.

Queensland Masters was to host the 2020 National Championships, and got to within a few weeks out from the April event when the pandemic closed in, so the Organising Committee is extremely happy to have the opportunity to present the event as it should have been.

From QMA’s Local Organising Committee Chair Stan Perkins: “Preparations for this eagerly awaited event are already well advanced, and we are optimistic that with increased national vaccination rates we will see record attendance in Brisbane in April this year. We’re excited also to announce that Damn Fit Strength and Conditioning has come onboard as a major sponsor”.
