Conditions for the women’s marathon on the opening day of the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 were extremely tough.  Despite a midnight start, temperatures on the ground were hovering around 35 degrees Celsius, with 80% humidity.

23 of the field DNF, Rochelle Rodgers showed true Aussie grit and pushed through the discomfort to finish in 35th place, clocking a gutsy 3:05.12.  Speaking after, an exhausted Rodgers said: ”It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
