Isis Holt and Sally Pearson are nominated for the ABC Sports Personality of the Year, as part of the annual AIS Sport Performance Awards.

The AIS and ABC Grandstand have launched aisawards.abc.net.au where the public can vote for the ABC Sports Personality of the Year and the Public Choice Team of the Year. Voting is open now and closes 5 pm AEDST, Sunday, December 10.

Sixteen-year-old Holt claimed gold in the T35 100m and 200m at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London. Holt ran 13.43 seconds in the 100m final, eclipsing her previous world record by 0.14 seconds to win the event. It took Holt’s World Para Athletics Championship haul to four gold medals, having also claimed the sprint double in 2015.

Pearson meanwhile, closed the door on three years of injury woe to win her second 100m hurdles crown at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London. The reigning Olympic Champion, clocked 12.59 to finish ahead of Dawn Harper-Nelson (USA) and Pamela Dutkiewicz (GER).

The ABC Sports Personality of the Year and Public Choice Team of the Year will be among the awards announced at a gala ceremony at The Star, Sydney, on December 12. The AIS Sport Performance Awards celebrate the nation’s sporting achievements, with awards for: male and female athlete of the year; Para-performance; emerging athlete; international team; coach; and leadership.

The AIS Sport Performance Awards will be broadcast on ABC Grandstand Digital, online and via the ABC Listen app.
