Athletics Australia is excited to announce they are supporting the Australian Olympic Committee's (AOC) Wellbeing Week from 7-11 September 2020. The theme for this year's Wellbeing Week is #EmpowerYourself to be the best you can be in all facets of life.

Mental Health has never been more critical than right now. The ongoing pandemic and the postponement of the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games has disrupted life for all elite athletes and we recognise the importance of having a focus on mental health through initiatives such as Wellbeing Week.

Wellbeing Week will comprise of a series of Lunch & Learn shows hosted by Aussie Water Polo Olympian, Amy Jones, streamed 'live' daily from 1.00-1.30pm AEST on the Australian Olympic Team’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Tune in to learn how you can empower your wellbeing and improve your mental health.

Dual Olympian, Australian record holder, 110m hurdler and member of the AOC Indigenous Advisory Committee Kyle Vander-Kuyp will share his story as part of the “Empower your Identity” themed day.

“My Identity is so important to me as it lays the foundation of who I am,” Mr Van der Kuyp said. “I draw strength in the knowledge that my ancestry goes back to over 50,000 years, and I am excited to share this as a part of the AOC’s 2020 Wellbeing Week.

“I have come to realise wellbeing comes in different ways and forms, and I am excited to gain insights from fellow Olympians across a number of topics. No matter what life brings you and how it shapes you, you need to be true to yourself."

The live streams will showcase different themes daily discussing the importance of your mental well-being:

Monday 7 September – Empower your Passion with Lisa Darmanin & Cody Simpson

Tuesday 8 September – Empower your Future with Jane Flemming & Charlie Albone

Wednesday 9 September – Empower your Friendships with Belle Brockhoff & Holly Crawford

Thursday 10 September –  Empower your Mental Health on RUOKDay with Cate Campbell, Owen Wright & Dr. Simon Rosenbaum

Friday 11 September – Empower your Identity with Sam Stosur, Kyle Vander-Kuyp and Youcef Abdi
