Australian Athletics Championships DRAFT Timetable

The general framework of the program has changed from last year following feedback from athletes, coaches and officials. As such Junior age groups (U15, U16, U17 and U18) are scheduled from Sat 21 March to Tue 24 March (except the Open 1500m, which is on Day 4) . A majority of the ‘large fields’ are in these age groups and based on entry numbers from previous years, days 1, 2, 3 and 4 ( being Sat 21, Sun 22, Mon 23 and Tue 24 March) the daily program runs from approx. 930am to 630pm. Wednesday 25 March is a rest day and changeover day for Officials who were pushed beyond limits last year with a seven day straight program.

For days 5,6,7 and 8 ( Thu 26, Fri 27, Sat 28 and Sun 29) Open, U20 U14 and all para events are scheduled with Open and U20 events timetabled separately (where possible) to provide opportunity for these athletes to compete across both age groups.

We have also included qualification rounds for field events (NB not for hammer until final numbers are known) which has ‘inflated’ the timetable. Final entry numbers will determine the final qualifications required.

Mens/Womens 800m are timetabled as heats, semis and finals on Thu/Fri/Sat based on feedback from 2019.

Mens/Womens 1500m heats have been scheduled for Tuesday evening with the 1500m final Thursday evening.

Mens/Womens 200m move to heats/semi-finals and final as opposed to A and B races. Again this was changed from feedback from last year to remove the A and B races. Note that the 100,200,400 heats/sf and finals are timetabled accordingly.
