In celebration of Peter Norman Day Athletics Australia in partnership with the Victorian Government has unveiled a statue in honour of Peter Norman. â£
51 years ago at the 1968 Mexico Olympics Peter set the 200m Australian record of 20.06. The record still stands today. â£
However it was Peter's brave stand in solidarity with Americans Tommie Smith and John Carlos on the dais post-race that will forever live as one of Australia’s most iconic sporting moments – and with a special place in Olympic history.â£
